During our intensive research and development for our True Balanced turntables and phono stages, we realised the importance of MC cartridges for sound and mechanical perfection. Only with MC cartridges can you utilise the full technical benefits of a balanced connection — improved dynamics, soundstage, and exceptional quietness.

The Challenge of MC Cartridges

Unfortunately, the production of MC cartridges is far more intensive and costly compared to MM cartridges. However, our goal has always been to make true HiFi stereo affordable. The result of this pursuit is the Pick It MC2.

Lightweight Design, Superior Response

The very light stylus and coil assembly of a moving coil cartridge allows for a wider frequency range and improved transient response. This results in more detailed sound reproduction and greater resolution of low-level signals.

Reduced Hum and External Interference

Thanks to its lower source impedance, the MC2 is less sensitive to external influences — meaning less hum and cleaner playback. Due to the lower output (typically around 20dB lower), we recommend pairing it with a high-quality phono stage for the best results.

Fresh and Lively Sound

The all-new Pro-Ject Pick it MC2 cartridge uses an elliptical diamond stylus mounted on an aluminium cantilever. This combination delivers a richer tone and reveals more subtle details compared to the Pick it MC1.

Precision Construction

The enclosure is made from resonance-optimised ABS, resulting in a total weight of around 5 grams. With its medium compliance, the MC2 performs perfectly with most entry- to mid-level turntables.

Crafted with the Finest Components

By sourcing the best Japanese components for critical parts — such as the diamond and cantilever — we’ve developed an excellent, affordable motor housed in our own resonance-free cabinet. After 1.5 years of fine-tuning and extensive listening tests, we’re proud to present the Pick it MC2 — a great-sounding and truly affordable MC cartridge.
